HELP OUT WITH OUR GRAPHICS!- How to Foster -Okay so you understand how to add a pet to the database, but not sure what to do next? If you want the potential owners to follow a certain guidelines in their request, you may want to make a rules page How do I make a rules page? Well you can do a few things: Now that you have your pet in the database and your rules set up, all that's left to do is wait for requests. I found a person I want to adopt my pet now what? Neomail the person and let them know that you have chosen them to adopt your pet. It would be nice to let everyone who requested know that the pet has found a new home, since they took the time to request. This way, they don't have to wait until the pet is removed from the database to find out. You don't have to do this but it would be nice for you to do, since they did take the time to request. After you have let the person know they will be the one to adopt your pet, you will then set up a transfer time and met them online to do the tranfer. How do I transfer the pet? Note: This is just a quick guide. For more detailed instructions, visit this page. The only way to transfer a pet from one account to another is through the Neopain Pound. Click on Pet Central, and click on the pound. You can only transfer the pet when both you, and the person adopting are online. You need to talk to each other on AIM or MSN or another kind of instant messenger program. When you are both online, and ready to do the transfer, you need to be at the Abandon page in the pound. The person adopting can adopt the pet by either using the adoption link, or by using the Adopt-a-Pet Search Engine: - or - http://www.neopets.com/process_adopt.phtml?pet_name=PETNAMEHERE Simply replace PETNAMEHERE with the name of the pet you are adopting. All you need to do is refresh at that page in order to adopt the pet. The link is automatic, so I greatly recommend using it instead of the search engine. Make sure that the person adopting has enough neopoints to adopt the pet, since there is a fee to adopt pets in the pound. It usually costs about 100 neopoints per level, so if you are adopting a level 8 pet, you should have at least 800 neopoints. To check to see if you have enough neopoints to adopt the pet, go to the adoption link. If you don't have enough neopoints, it will say "ERROR : You need ____ Neopoints to adopt _______!" If you do have enough neopoints, it will simply say "ERROR : Terribly sorry, this pet already has an owner and is very happy!". When transferring pets, always use an instant messenger program. When I give pets to people, I always do a count down. I first say to the person adopting the pet "I will count down - I'll say 3, 2, 1, and then GO when the pet is in the pound. Are you ready?" Once he or she is ready to adopt the pet, I will go on with the countdown. If you are careful when transferring, you will almost always be successful. To be careful, always check to see if the person adopting has enough neopoints, go over how you will transfer the pet (whether using the link or the search engine), and make sure your internet browser isn't lagging. Help! The transfer didn't got well, now what? Sometimes transfers don't go well and the pet may end up with a different person than wanted. Do not yell at person who snagged your pet to give it back, kindly ask for the pet back and explain whathappened. It might be a good idea to take screenshots ahead of time, so that you do have proof and your story will fit what you explain. Sometimes the pet is returned and sometimes it's not. There's really nothing you can do :( Good-Luck and Happy Fostering!
